The Kansas City Royals wrapped up cactus league play with a 5-4 win over the Cleveland Indians Monday. They finished the Spring with a 16-8-4 record and in 1st place in the Cactus League standings.
Royals manager Mike Matheny called it a good spring.
The Royals now return to Kansas City to open the season Thursday against Texas.
The Royals announced that they selected Hanser Alberto to the 40-man roster on Monday night. The infielder will fill a utilityman role for the Royals this season, slotting in at second base, shortstop, and third base when needed — he has also taken reps at first base and the outfield.
