The final stage of Flint Hills Technical College’s Presidential Search has begun.
Finalist interviews got underway Monday with one-time Vice Chancellor of Instruction at Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, MO Dr. Caron Daugherty. Dr. Daugherty has spent nearly three decades in higher education having most recently served at Metropolitan from 2019-2020.
Dr. Daugherty says she was “ecstatic” to learn she was selected as a finalist to potentially fill the president’s position following the retirement of current president Dean Hollenbeck at the end of this academic year. If selected for the position, Dr. Daugherty says her first priority will be properly introducing and familiarizing herself with both the college and local communities.
Finalist interviews will continue Tuesday with retired president of Lurleen B Wallace Community College, located in Andalusia, Alabama, Dr. Herbert Reidel. Interviews will continue next week with Dr. Sandra Kiddoo, the chief academic officer at Hazard Community and Technical College in Hazard, Kentucky. Dr. Kiddoo is scheduled to interview next Monday.
Hollenbeck announced his plan to retire last fall after leading the college since 2006. The college board has said it plans to name Hollenbeck’s replacement in June.
