It was a long night for the Emporia State baseball team Friday night losing in a slugfest to Rogers State 18-15.
Rogers State scored 5 runs in the 1st inning including a grand slam by Mason Harvey who would finish the night going 5 for 6 and drove in 7 runs.
Emporia State scored 2 runs in the 1st inning, added 4 in the 2nd inning on Cooper Minnicks grand slam. He finished the game going 4 for 5 with 6 rbi.
Bringham Mooney hit a 2 run home run as part of a 4 run 3rd inning to take a 10-7 lead.
Rogers State scored 6 runs in the 5th inning to take a 13-11 lead. Emporia State would tie the game at 14 with 2 runs in the 6th.
Cooper Minnick hit a solo home run in the 8th inning to tie the game at 15.
In the 9th inning, Mason Harvey hit his 2nd home run of the night a 3 run homer that ended up being the difference in the game.
Emporia State Coach Seth Wheeler said they need to find ways to win these games.
The two teams play a doubleheader Saturday afternoon with the first pitch set for 12:00p.
