Emporia State University welcomed the third of four finalists for the ESU provost position Thursday.
Dr. George Arasimowicz is the current dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio a position he has held since 2016. Arasimowicz says he chose to apply for the provost position after gaining an abundance of respect for the university and its accomplishments serving as a reviewer on the Commission for Accreditation in previous years.
If chosen for the position, Dr. Arasimowicz says his first major goal will be gaining a better understanding of the university’s greatest opportunities and hazards.
Arasimowicz follows Cal State-Bakersfield dean of Business and Public Administration Dr. Angappa Gunasekaran and dean of Arts, Letters and Sciences at Southwest Minnesota State Dr. Aimee Shouse who interviewed for the position last week. The final candidate to interview will be Dr. J.S. “Jeff” Elwell Friday.
The search for a new provost began after current provost David Cordle announced his retirement last fall. Cordle will retire in June.
