There will be a new face at Maynard Early Childhood Center next school year.
Wednesday, USD 253 Emporia Schools announced the hiring of Joy McGhee as the new principal of Maynard. McGhee comes to the district from Winfield Scott Elementary School in Fort Scott.
McGhee has been the principal at Winfield Scott for the past four years prior to which she served as a kindergarten and transitional kindergarten teacher.
In a news release from the district, McGhee says “I am thrilled to be joining the team at Maynard Early Childhood Center. I am excited to share my passion for early childhood with the amazing staff there.”
McGhee will assume her role as principal in July filling the vacancy left by the retirement of current Maynard Principal Keva Scheib.
