The Flint Hills Community Health Center Board of Directors held two meetings in one Tuesday.
First was the FHCHC annual board meeting which saw the election of directors and officers, the approval of services, sites and hours of operation and the ratification of business and affairs from 2020. Daphne Mertens was selected to serve as the new Board President replacing Teresa Briggs.
Vanda Stephens was elected to serve as Board Vice President and Ron Hanson was chosen to continue serving as board secretary.
During the board’s regular meeting the monthly financial report showed a net loss of $35,000 — $85,000 less favorable than the budgeted gain of $50,000 — for the month of February. The health center’s year-to-date net gain is $53,000. Revenues were $108,000 under budget with expenses coming in at $779,000 2.85 percent under budget for the month.
Health Center CEO Renee Hively says they were anticipating a dip in revenues for the month.
In other business, the board received the annual staff satisfaction survey. According to Hively, this was the best survey the health center has seen in years.
Three main areas of improvement were singled out through the survey including communication, accountability and pay. The survey will now go to the FHCHC Internal Culture Club which will devise strategies for addressing those areas.
The FHCHC Board of Directors will next convene for its monthly board meeting Tuesday, Apr. 27 at noon.
