A slow start proved costly for the Kansas Jayhawks as they were bounced from the NCAA tournament by USC 85-51 Monday night.
The Jayhawks missed their first 8 shots, trailed 5-0, and never did take the lead. They trailed 40-21 at halftime and by as many as 35 points in the 2nd half.
Coach Bill Self said they were outplayed.
Marcus Garrett was the lone Jayhawk to score in double-figures finishing with 15 points. USC was led by the brother duo of Evan and Isaiah Mobley, they combined for 27 points and 21 rebounds.
The Jayhawks finish the season with a record of 21-9.
Coach Self said there were positives during the season.
USC advances to the sweet 16.
They will play Oregon Sunday night.
Oregon advanced with a 95-80 win over Iowa.
#1 seed Gonzaga defeated Oklahoma 87-71.
#1 Michigan outscored LSU 86-78.
UCLA defeated Abilene Christian 67-47.
Creighton was a 72-58 winner over Ohio.
Florida State defeated Colorado 71-53.
Alabama outscored Maryland 96-77.
The Sweet 16 will be played Saturday and Sunday.
The Elite 8 on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
