The Kansas Jayhawks advanced to the 2nd round of the NCAA mens basketball tournament with a 93-84 win over Eastern Washington Saturday.
Kansas trailed at halftime by 8, 46-38. The Jayhawks would go on a 7-0 run to take a 73-66 lead. Kansas led by as many as 12 with under 5 minutes to play.
Coach Bill Self said they made plays when they needed to make plays.
Marcus Garrett led the Jayhawks in scoring with 23 points.
David McCormack added 22 points.
Kansas will play USC Monday in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament.
USC advances after outscoring Drake 72-56.
Both number 1 seeds advanced to the 2nd round.
Gonzaga defeated Norfolk State 98-55.
Michigan was an 82-66 winner over Texas Southern.

The Oregon vs VCU game was declared a non-contest after a positive COVID test with VCU.
There are 8 2nd round games scheduled for Sunday.
