Osage County deputies were busy with two cases that originated near the Interstate 35 Waverly exit.
Shortly before 11 am, a deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. An Osage County K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, so deputies searched and found methamphetamine, marijuana and several forms of paraphernalia inside.
The suspect, 24-year-old Brandon Beissenherz of Edgerton, was arrested on suspicion of possession of meth, marijuana and paraphernalia.
Almost an hour later, a deputy tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but this time the driver decided to keep going and the deputy started a pursuit. The chase didn’t end until the suspect got into Anderson County, got out and fled on foot. The suspect, 33-year-old Roger Stewart, surrendered before a K-9 could help with the arrest.
Stewart was booked into the Osage County Jail on suspicion of felony flee and elude, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault and two unspecified warrants.
Formal charges are pending in both cases.
