The IRS said Wednesday it is delaying the April 15 tax filing deadline to May 17 giving taxpayers more time to prepare their filings amid the slew of pandemic-related tax changes.
The changes do not apply to state tax returns and payments.
IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig says the agency wants to do everything it can to help taxpayers while working on “important tax administration responsibilities.”
People do not need to file any forms or contact the IRS.
