Parts of the KVOE listening area have already seen some severe thunderstorm activity recently. Other parts of the area are now in a severe thunderstorm watch for the prospect of more activity past sunrise.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Coffey and Greenwood counties until 8 am. Hail to the size of limes or eggs, around 2 inches in diameter, and winds gusts up to 70 mph are the main risks, although isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out.
Severe storms developed near Emporia shortly before midnight and dropped quarter-sized hail in Americus before pushing out of the area.

Quarter-sized hail has been confirmed in Americus from activity now moving northeast of Emporia.
