The threat of flooding through early Friday morning has apparently diminished for Lyon County and several neighboring counties.
The National Weather Service had put out a flash flood watch for Lyon, Coffey, Osage and Wabaunsee counties shortly before 3 pm with an expiration time of 7 am Friday. At the time, the Weather Service expected 1-2 inches of additional rain on top of rain from earlier in the week. Very little rain actually materialized, so the watch was canceled before 9 pm.
Rain chances persist through the weekend, but they are slight to moderate until Tuesday, when showers and storms are listed as likely. More rain chances continue into late next week, based on the current forecast.
