Lyon County commissioners officially started putting together the 2022 budget as part of their action session Thursday.
Commissioners heard the first department head request, courtesy of County Clerk Tammy Vopat. She says her budgets will remain flat with three exceptions. She has added a requested 3.5-percent increase in the salary line item. She has also increased the Clerk’s Office miscellaneous line item by $15,000.
Vopat says counties should be reimbursed for extra expenses they incur in case they have to send out these notices, but she’s not sure that will actually happen.
The third adjustment was an extra $75,000 in the Election Office capital outlay category. The county needs new electronic poll books, and the extra funds will cover the expected cost for the new equipment along with other related upgrades.
Separately, commissioners approved three requests by County Engineer Chip Woods, two for proposals on structural steel and so-called H-pilings, and one for grader blades.
