Just a handful of Lyon County roads remain closed as earlier flooding has apparently subsided.
The Lyon County Highway Department placed barricades on three different roads or intersections Tuesday:
*Road 135 from Road “V6/V7” to Road “W”
*Road “V6/V7” from Road 135 to 145
*Road W from Road 123 to Road 135
The Highway Department also pulled barricades from 25 roads and intersections Tuesday.
Rivers, meanwhile, are elevated but are now falling towards normal levels. There are no flood warnings up across the KVOE listening area at this time.
Rainfall Tuesday was more widely scattered than it was Sunday, when we had anywhere from 3-8 inches of rain across Lyon County. Tuesday’s totals:
*KVOE studios: 0.25 inches
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.28 inches
*Ninth and Lawrence: 0.25 inches
*Allen: 0.30 inches
*Americus: Trace
*Road 60 and U: 0.75 inches
More showers and storms are likely Wednesday, and locally heavy rainfall is possible. Rain chances continue but come down Thursday and will be low for Friday through the upcoming weekend.
