With the Jones Aquatic Center set to reopen in a little less than two weeks Emporia Recreation Commission Aquatics Supervisor Jennifer Wegner says they could use more staffers at this time.
During a recent interview with KVOE, Wegener stated they have enough lifeguards to open the facility and get the summer season started. However; she says due to the current level of staffing there may be some days where they do not have a full staff on hand.
She went on to say they are also in need of more water safety and swim lesson instructors. Wegener says there are a number of rewards to being a lifeguard or swim instructor.
The Jones Aquatic Center is tentatively scheduled to open on May. 31 and will be open from 1 to 6 pm daily through the summer months. Swim lessons will run for a two-week period Monday through Thursday with classes in the morning and evening starting Jul. 12 and running through Jul. 22.
