A risk of showers and thunderstorms Saturday morning has forced Emporia State University to change locations for its undergraduate commencement exercises.
Director of Media Relations Gwen Larson says the activities will be at White Auditorium instead of Welch Stadium. Ceremonies begin at 9 am, with student check-in starting at 7:30 am.
White Auditorium was also the backup site for Friday’s graduate commencement activities, but ESU used Welch Stadium instead. Students, guests and staff dealt with light shower activity periodically through the event.
ESU will have several COVID-19 protocols in place Saturday, mirroring the ones in use Friday:
*Each graduate can have two guests. Graduates will be given two wristbands as they check in. They will then be responsible for getting wristbands to guests. No audience members, including children, will be admitted without wristbands.
*Participants will wear masks and use social distancing.
ESU will also live-stream Saturday’s event on www.emporia.edu/commencement. More information about graduation activities and plans is available on that web page.
