A 5 run first inning by Central Missouri proved to be too costly for the Emporia State baseball team in a 7-3 loss to the Mules in the MIAA tournament Friday.
Central scored 5 runs on 3 hits and 1 Emporia State error to build a lead they would not give up.
Emporia State Coach Seth Wheeler was proud of the way they battled and did not give up.
Emporia State would score a single run in the 4th inning on a home run by Brady Michel. Michel would drive in Cooper Minnick with a single in the 6th inning.
Blake Carroll scored in the 8th inning on a wild pitch.
For senior Cooper Minnick the season did not end the way they wanted the season to end but there were some positives.
Emporia State finishes the season with a 17-25 record. Central Missouri advances to the MIAA Tournament semi-finals where they will play the winner of the Pittsburg State vs Washburn series.
