Another federal grant is coming to the Emporia Municipal Airport.
On Friday, US Senators Roger Marshall and Jerry Moran announced over $700,000 has been earmarked for the airport. The grant includes almost $631,000 as an “entitlement amount” along with $70,000 in COVID-19 relief.
Funding here will install navigation aids and a visual guidance system. It will also rebuild guidance signs and reconstruct runway lighting.
The airport has already received $13,000 this year for COVID-19 relief. It received several state and federal grants last year for projects.
