The Newman Regional Health parking lot was extremely busy Thursday with the official kickoff of the 2021 Denim and Diamonds fundraiser.
The annual Denim and Diamonds BBQ was a huge success, so successful in fact it sold out before a single lunch was served. Newman Regional Health Director of Business Development and Denim and Diamonds organizer McKenzie Cinelli was thankful not only to the community but also the hardworking staff and volunteers on hand for the BBQ.
Newman events coordinator Michelle Margeson says the BBQ, and other Denim and Diamonds activities, are a great boost for the Newman staff.
Fundraising totals from the BBQ are currently pending, however, Newman served more than 600 meals throughout the course of the day. All proceeds from this year’s Denim and Diamonds will be going to support the construction of a new simulated apartment suite inside the hospital’s in-patient rehabilitation unit.
The next event on the schedule for Denim and Diamonds will be a collaboration with Panda Express next Thursday with 28 percent of proceeds from all online orders going to the fundraiser. For a full list of Denim and Diamonds events visit www.Newmanrh.org/dd/.
