The USD 253 Emporia Board of Education approved a reorganization plan for the district administration involving the upcoming academic year starting in July.
The district will fill the assistant superintendent for human resources and both the director and associate director of teaching and learning positions on an interim basis before deciding whether to make those changes permanent. That could save the district around $125,000.
USD 253 also is losing nearly nine certified positions and three classified positions through attrition. Those positions, ranging from library clerks to instructional strategists, will not be filled — saving the district around $600,000.
