At this time there are no plans for any mass vaccination clinics in the county through Lyon County Public Health as opposed to earlier in the year when Public Health was holding weekly primary and revaccination clinics. During her weekly appearance on KVOE’s Morning Show Thursday Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern stated when it comes to large-scale clinics, “they will not be throwing them out completely.”
She says if there is a need, Public Health is ready to meet it. This comes as vaccines are becoming more accessible to the general public with many local pharmacies and medical providers offering vaccine appointments.
Additionally, there has been a notable decrease in the demand for vaccines over the past few months.
With that being said, Millbern tells KVOE News Public Health is currently planning to hold smaller-scale “pop-up” clinics in the community. She says as a county she believes there needs to be more emphasis placed on targeting the 18-25-year-old population with vaccination efforts.
Countywide, Millbern reports that roughly 13,800 individuals have received a primary vaccine dose while 12,300 individuals have been fully vaccinated. This equivalates to right around 37 percent of Lyon County’s estimated population.
