State tax revenues blossomed when compared to a year ago.
In its latest report, the Kansas Department of Revenue says the May 2021 tax collections were at almost $605 million, up 135 percent from May 2020. Total tax collections were $1.1 billion, beating estimates by almost $510 million.
Individual income tax collections were $430 million above estimates and over $490 million above May 2020. Corporate income tax collections beat estimates by almost $25 million and May 2020 receipts by $33 million.
Retail sales tax and compensating use tax collections were also both ahead of May 2020 and prior estimates.
