More DUI arrests, more non-DUI fatalities.
Those were two of the main points of the Kansas Highway Patrol’s report on Memorial Day weekend enforcement efforts.
Last year, the Highway Patrol had 15 DUI arrests across Kansas. The number climbed to 20 this year.
Speed citations and warnings both declined from last year, as did safety belt citations and warnings for both adults and teenagers. Child restraint citations also declined.
Unfortunately, the Highway Patrol worked three non-DUI fatal crashes including five deaths this past weekend. Last year had one fatality crash and one death.
