The oldest consecutive rodeo in the state of Kansas is back and better than ever this week.
The 2021 Flint Hills Rodeo kicks off in Strong City Thursday evening with the trade show at 5:30 pm. Thursday will also include the kids stick rodeo at 6 pm followed by the main performance which gets underway at 8 pm nightly. FHR committee member Stacy Davis, a recent guest of KVOE’s Talk of Emporia, says this year’s lineup will feature a whose who of rodeo stars.
Kids 12 and under will get in for free Thursday evening. Friday night is Military Appreciation Night with all active and retired military members who have a military I.D. card getting in for free.
The kid’s stick rodeo kicks off at 6 pm and will again serve as the warmup for the evening’s main event beginning at 8 pm.
The Cowboy and Cowgirl dance sponsored by KVOE is scheduled to take place Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 10 pm. The festivities will conclude Saturday with the annual rodeo parade at 2 pm in Strong City followed again by the trade show, stick horse rodeo and final performance.
