The Emporia Junior American Legion baseball team suffered 2 losses Friday in a round robin tournament.
Post 5 was out scored by Lawrence 17-6 in their first game. Lawrence scored 2 runs in the first inning and added 4 more runs in the 2nd inning. Emporia responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning to cut the deficit to 6-4. Lawrence scored 3 runs in the 3rd. Emporia added 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Lawrence put the game out of reach scoring 5 runs in the 4th inning and 3 runs in the 5th inning.
In their 2nd game Post 5 was defeated by El Dorado 18-1. El Dorado scored 5 runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings and scored 8 runs in the 3rd. Emporia scored their lone run in the 2nd inning.
Coach Anthony Markowitz called the two games learning opportunities.
Coach Markowitz said the early season games will be about developing the right mentality.
The Emporia Juniors will play the Topeka Scrappers Saturday at 9 am.
