KVOE has announced the 20-21 Emporia High and Area High School Athletes and Coaches of the Year.
Emporia High Athletes and Coach were nominated by Coaches at Emporia High School and then selected by the KVOE Spartan Booster Club.
Area High School Athletes and Coach were nominated by area high school Athletic Directors and selected by area high school Principals.
The Emporia High and Area High School Athletes of the year also receive a $300 scholarship.
Emporia High
Male Student-Athlete of the Year – Camden Kirmer – Played football, basketball, and baseball. Will be attending Kansas State.
Female Student-Athlete of the Year – Macey Adams – Played volleyball, basketball and competed in track and field. – Will be attending Butler County on a volleyball scholarship.
Coach of the Year – Shawn Russell – girls wrestling.
Area High School
Male Student-Athlete of the year – Jordan Barnard – Olpe – Part of State Championship football and basketball teams. Also, medal winner at State Golf Tournament and played baseball.
Female Student-Athlete of the Year – Emmy Punches – Burlingame – State placer in Cross Country, played basketball and medal winner at State Track and Field. Will be attending Highland Community College and participate in cross country and track and play basketball.
Coach of the Year – Chris Schmidt – Olpe – Led Olpe football and boys basketball to State Championships.
