Final numbers have been announced for area cities and towns receiving the latest round of COVID-19 relief funds originating with the federal government.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly made the announcement Wednesday morning. This round of funding through the American Rescue Plan Act’s Local Fiscal Recovery Fund involves over 600 Kansas cities and towns that are officially called Non-Entitlement Units of Government, or essentially places with populations under 50,000. They will receive funds directly from the state as a pass-through of federal funds, but they must certify with the state that they wish to use these funds or they can decline these awards and reallocate to the state’s Fiscal Recovery Fund.
The American Rescue Plan is offering nearly $2 trillion in economic stimulus to help long-term recovery efforts related to the COVID-19 pandemic, whether it be for economic or public health matters.
