Emporia State University and Dynamic Discs are all a-buzz about the newest disc golf course in town.
The new course, Hornet Hills, is located in Wilson Park on the Emporia State University campus and was created in partnership between Dynamic Discs and ESU. Dynamic Discs owner Jeremy Rusco says the nine-hole course is a great addition to the community and perfect for all levels of competitors.
Rusco adds the new course comes at a perfect time with the Junior World Disc Golf Championships coming to Emporia next month.
The new course received its name after a competition that was open to the entire campus and Emporia community. Jason Santangelo of ESU says the naming competition was an effort to give “ESU faculty and staff, the community and disc golfers in general” a sense of ownership and involvement in the course.
Santangelo says the competition saw a tremendous amount of participation.
All of the baskets and tee pads for the course were supplied by Dynamic Discs. According to Rusco, there is still some work to do on the course with tee pads still needing to be put in, however, all baskets have been placed.
