Traffic on part of Prairie Street is being fully diverted for the rest of Tuesday and will see limited traffic Wednesday.
Emporia’s Street Department is repaving Prairie Street between Ninth and 12th. This has completely shut off Prairie Street in that three-block stretch. Emporia Public Works says one-lane traffic will be allowed Wednesday, with the goal of fully reopening the street by Thursday.
This is a separate project from the Street Rehabilitation project currently underway. Street Rehab involves 12 different streets around town.
