This weekend inclusion, equality and most importantly love for all people will be on full display in downtown Emporia.
The first-ever pride parade and drag show are set to take place in downtown Emporia Saturday evening. The parade will begin on Commercial Street at 7th and will proceed to 12th starting at 6 pm.
The drag show will then follow at 8 pm inside the Bourbon Cowboy.
The celebration is a part of Pride month festivities which historically is held during the entire month of June. The celebration in Emporia is being put on in partnership between Emporia Community Action and the Emporia High School Gender Sexual Alliance.
GSA President Orion Turner recently joined KVOE’s Talk of Emporia and discussed the importance of Pride month to all members of the LGBTQ community.
