The Emporia Community Foundation wrapped up its weeklong 25th-year anniversary celebration appropriately titled Emporia Community Foundation Cares.
Last year was the actual 25th-year anniversary, but because of COVID-19, the celebration was halted until this year. A total of $5,000 was awarded to 10 local partners through two surprise $500 grants a day.
ECF CEO Becky Nurnberg says the week’s worth of giving allowed for an opportunity to shine a light on the important work done throughout the community by each of these deserving organizations.
Habitat for Humanity and the Wade Barrett Memorial Fund were this week’s final recipients receiving $500 surprise grants Friday morning and afternoon.
The list of recipients includes:
The Chase County Children’s Fund
The Olpe Veterans Memorial Fund
Hetlinger Developmental services
Eastside Emporia Group
The Emporia Arts Council
Emporia Grenada Theatre Alliance Fund
The NLC Youth Association
Mainstreet Mommas
Habitat for Humanity
The Wade Barrett Memorial Fund
The Community Foundation has funded over 75 local nonprofits with well over 300 individual funds within the Foundation since its establishment. The Foundation started with a mere $5,000 but has grown tremendously to $39 million.
