Flint Hills Community Health Center is pleased with its 2020 audit report.
During the FHCHC Board of Directors meeting Tuesday, Scott Gold of BKD CPA’s and Advisors presented an informational update on the audit report. According to the initial report, the health center received a clean audit with $6.5 million in assets, $4.8 million in net assets and an operating margin of just over 10 percent.
According to FHCHC Chief Financial Officer Seresa Howe, the health center received a major boost over the past year from state and federal COVID-19 assistance funds.
Howe says the funding they received over the past year will set up the health center for greater financial success in the coming year. At this time the board is planning to formally approve the audit report at its next regular meeting in July.
In other business, CEO Renee Hively provided an update on two pandemic-related grant opportunities through the American Rescue Plan. The first grant will assist the health center with equipment purchases and new programming.
The second grant is a capital improvement grant that, if approved, will help facilitate a construction project to relocated the dental health department and provide additional space. The move could also allow for the health center to expand its dental clinic staff according to Hively.
She says the additional space and staff are significantly needed.
The Health Center will submit its application for the American Rescue Plan grant by Thursday.
In addition to these items, the monthly financial report showed the health center had a net gain of $23,000 for the month of May which continues the center’s recent streak of positive financial gains for the year. This brings the health center’s year-to-date net gain to $265,000.
The FHCHC Board of Directors will reconvene for its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jul. 27 at noon inside the Havenhill Conference Room.
