Remember all the rainfall we had the second half of May? Well, a month later, a good portion of the KVOE listening area is now listed as abnormally dry.
Most of Chase and Greenwood counties are now in the preliminary drought stage, according to the US Drought Monitor. The southern fringe of Greenwood County was the only part of any area county that was abnormally dry last week.
Lyon County has avoided drought status so far, but rain has been limited locally. The KVOE studios picked up 0.50 inches of rain June 1 and nothing measurable since then.
