The Emporia 11th-12th grade team wrapped a 1st place finish in the Emporia MAYB tournament Saturday.
They finished the tournament 3 and 0. Defeating Hartford 78-18 and Clay Center twice 71-45 and 68-30.
With one of the teams dropping out late only 3 teams were left in the 11-12th grade division.
Emporia High Coach Beau Welch said it is good to be able to get into a gym this summer after being kept out of the gyms last summer.
Coach Welch said this summer has been good for team building.
Hartford was 0-3 for the day and Clay Center was 2-2.
In the boys 7 and 8th-grade division team Emporia is 3-0 with wins over Hartford, the Topeka Mustangs, and MWE Heat.
Hartford is 0-3 and Osage City 2-1.
Bracket play begins this morning. The Championship game is scheduled to be played at 1 pm.
In the girls high school division, team Emporia defeated Burlington and Lady Bulldogs, and won by forfeit over Sparkle.
Sparkle defeated Burlington and lost to the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Burlington.
Bracket play begins this morning with Emporia playing the Lady Bulldogs and Sparkle playing Burlington. The finals are set for noon.
All games are being played at Emporia High.
