Flooding issues will soon be a thing of the past for Lyon County and surrounding counties.
Just one Lyon County road remains closed at this time. The closure starts on the north end at Road V-6 at 145, but it turns into Road V-7 before curving east on Road 135 to W. It then goes south to Road 123.
Eight other Lyon County roads and intersections that had been closed earlier in the week were re-opened by the Lyon County Highway Department on Thursday. The county road network was completely reopened for a couple hours before the Road V-6 closure was announced.
Just in Lyon County, residents received anywhere from around 4.5 inches to over 11 inches of rainfall since last Friday. Neosho Rapids reported 11.05 inches total over the last week.
If there was any good coming from the heavy rainfall, the KVOE listening area is now completely clear of any drought level. The US Drought Monitor had put most of Chase and Greenwood counties in abnormally dry status last week.
Fourth of July weekend conditions will be dry with highs in the mid- to upper 80s and no chances of rainfall until early Monday.
