The Kansas City Royals ended their 9 game losing skid with a 7-4 win over the Minnesota Twins last night.

Salvador Perez hit his 20th home run of the season as part of a 3 run 2nd inning that tied the game at 3. Hanser Alberto hit a 2 run home run in the 3rd inning to give the Royals the lead for good. It was his first home run for the Royals.

The Royals used 6 pitchers Brady Singer lasted 3 innings giving up 3 runs on 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Richard Lovelady earned the win pitching 2 innings giving up no runs on 1 hit, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout. His

Scott Barlow would earn the save pitching a scoreless 9th inning.

The Royals and Twins play again this afternoon. Danny Duffy will make the start for the Royals with the first pitch set for 3:10p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.

The Kansas City Royals announced Friday that infielder/outfielder Whit Merrifield and right-handed pitcher Scott Barlow have been named Royals Player and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for the month of June. The awards are determined by a local media vote.

Merrifield, 32, led the Majors with 40 hits last month—the most in any month of his career—becoming the first Royal to record 40 hits in a calendar month since Jon Jay (43) in May 2018. He became the first Royal to lead the Majors in hits in any calendar month since Johnny Damon (51) did so in July 2000.
Barlow pitched in 11 of the Royals 27 games in June—one shy of the team lead—including nine scoreless appearances and pitched to a 1.69 ERA with 14 strikeouts and a .231 opponents’ average.
