Some new provisions for Kansas’ concealed carry law are now in effect as of Thursday.
The provisions, approved by the Kansas Legislature earlier this year, include a new provisional license which is now available for individuals between 18 and 20 years of age. The new provisions also allow for the issuance of a concealed carry license to individuals who have had “certain prior felony or misdemeanor convictions expunged.”
Also, the application fee for a concealed carry license has been reduced. Per the state’s 2022 budget, the application fee is set to be lowered from $132.50 to $112 and will apply to any applicaitons received by sheriff’s offices between now and Jul. 30, 2022.
There is no change in the fee for license renewals which remains at $25.
