An Osage County deputy is lucky he wasn’t killed or severely injured a few days ago.
The deputy was conducting a traffic stop with emergency lights activated on Interstate 35 near the Melvern exit Thursday. The deputy was parked behind a semi and closed his driver’s side about two to three seconds before getting sideswiped by a pickup. The truck driver later stopped.
A short video posted by the Sheriff’s Office indicates the pickup driver did not move over as required by state law. The video cuts off shortly after the sideswipe, so it’s unclear what the traffic was immediately behind the pickup. The deputy was not hurt.
