The Kansas City Royals final game before the All-Star break at Cleveland was postponed Sunday. That game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on September 20th.
The Royals return to action on Friday when they host the Baltimore Orioles.
Royals Catcher Salvador Perez is scheduled to compete in the Homerun derby Monday night. He is slated to be the starting catcher for the American League in Wednesday’s All-Star game.
Whit Merrifield has also been selected to play in the All-Star game. He takes the place of Houston Astros Jose Altuve.
Two of the Royals prospects played in the Futures game Sunday.
Bobby Witt Jr started at shortstop. He was 0-2 with two hard-hit flyouts to left and right fields. Nick Prado started at 1st base he was 0-1 with a walk.
The first round of the Major League draft was held Sunday night.
The Royals selected left-handed high school pitcher Frank Mozzicato from Manchester, Conn. who threw four straight no-hitters this spring.
