SOS Strong is fast approaching the finish, and one of the bigger community events for the campaign took place Saturday at the Lyon County History Center.
“Come Laugh With Us for SOS” brought several comedians in to raise money for SOS Strong. On that list was Ronnie Williams, who says comedy “has gotten me through everything in life.” Like most comedians, he draws heavily on his personal life and current events for his material.
Williams is doing a comedy show for a similar charity, the Wichita Family Crisis Center, on Sunday night.
KVOE broadcaster Tagan Trahoon developed the idea for the comedy show. He says he’s been doing comedy routines since his early teens.
“Come Laugh With Us” brought in around $400 for SOS Strong, a month-long fundraising effort that includes over 20 men both raising money for SOS — aiming for $1,000 apiece — and also taking a pledge to set a positive example.
The campaign wraps up Wednesday with the annual awards celebration. That event will be at 5:30 pm at the SOS Community Advocacy and Service Complex, 1420 C of E Drive.
