USD 253 Emporia just began enrollment Monday and the numbers are already far exceeding 2020.
During the most recent installment of the Emporia Showcase Tuesday, Superintendent Allison Anderson-Harder announced that in just the first day of enrollment the district has enrolled 708 students. This is a sharp increase from this time in 2020 when the district only had around 200 students enrolled.
Online and in-person enrollment at the Flint Hills Learning Center will continue through Aug. 2 at which time parents will have to enroll their students in-person. Appointments are required for in-person enrollment.
District Director of Community Relations Lyndel Landgren says there are no major changes to the enrollment process, although, with breakfast and lunches being free this year, there is no free and reduced lunch form to fill out.
However; there is a new household economic survey that has taken its place.
If you would like to schedule an appointment to enroll your students contact the district by calling 620-341-2396. Beginning Aug. 23 in-person enrollment will move to the Mary Herbert Education Center.
