As the 100th annual Chase County Fair draws closer, organizers and participants alike are ready for the big celebration at Swope Park in Cottonwood Falls.
The 2021 fair marks an opportunity to get back to normal after many of the events for last year’s fair were drastically rearranged or canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fair Board Member Lisa Lauer says that she is excited to see all the traditional events, and also some new special additions.
On Saturday, there will be a concert on the fairgrounds from 7:30pm-9:30pm, where the Schmitz Blitz Band will take the stage.
Aside from assorted hand sanitizing stations and social distancing, Lauer says the fair will be resuming pre-pandemic operations.
The horse show will be on Sunday and the livestock shows will be on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thursday’s grand finale includes a BBQ followed by a fireworks show to send off the centennial celebration of the Chase County Fair.
Other upcoming or ongoing area fairs include Greenwood County from July 23-26, Morris County through July 26, Wabaunsee County from July 23-27 and Coffey County Fair July 21-25.
