For the third time in the last four reporting periods, Lyon County’s COVID-19 caseload increased by double digits.
Lyon County Public Health announced 13 new cases in its report Wednesday, following 10 new cases Friday and 21 new cases July 14. One new case was reported Monday.
Eight recovered patients were reported, so the active caseload went up from 31 to 36.
Lyon County now has 4,365 cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. Eighty-six patients have died and there is one death awaiting final cause from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Three Lyon County residents have been hospitalized, with 214 going to hospitals through the course of the pandemic.
KDHE is reporting 31 variant cases in Lyon County with 18 of the alpha variant and 13 of the highly transmissable delta variant.
