Emporian Caleb Schmid advanced to the match play round in the 111th Kansas Amateur Match Play Golf Tournament after Wednesday’s play.
Schmid followed Tuesday’s 74 with a 73. He will tee off against New Zealand’s Harry Hillier at 9:54 am.
Emporia’s three other golfers did not fare so well. Gentry Scheve had a 71 Tuesday but had a 78 Wednesday and finished 5-over. Caden Massey shot 77s for both rounds. Brooks Sauder, who had an 82 in his first round, had a 76 for his second round.
