Most of the KVOE listening area will be hot Sunday but will at least start the day avoiding any sort of heat alert. Greenwood County is the exception.
The National Weather Service has Greenwood County in a heat advisory until 7 pm Sunday, expecting heat index readings to approach 105 degrees.
Eureka had a peak heat index of 106 Saturday, while Emporia had a peak heat index of 104.
With sweltering heat possibly with us through the upcoming weekend, you’re urged to spend as much time in air conditioning as possible. If you can’t, take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening and take more breaks than you normally would. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing whenever possible.
We’ll keep you updated on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
