It’s not yet time for Halfway to Everywhere, but the free one-day music festival is fast approaching.
Halfway to Everywhere is set for Sept. 4 in downtown Emporia, and organizer Hank Osterhout — a guest on KVOE’s Morning Show on Monday — says about 35 acts are performing.
Osterhout says scheduling has gone well despite the coronavirus pandemic — and also despite several large-scale music festivals that rescheduled to the Sept. 4 weekend. Osterhout says the festival will have a VIP area where ticketholders can get dinner and merchandise and also have special access to the musicians. The event is free, but residents need to go online to www.ksfreeforarts.org to download tickets.
The Bourbon Cowboy stage will be for country music. On Monday, Osterhout announced Sunshine Trucking, The Fighting Side, Mountain Deer Revival, Dustin Arbuckle and the Damnations and Dale Watson as the performers for that stage.
Roots music will be featured at the Radius Brewing parking lot, while the Radius back patio will have one-man acts. Patio stage acts include Scarlet Sound, Sean Richey, Brent Windler, Joe Foster, Eric Murphy, AJ Gaither, Randal Conrad Olinger and Possessed by Paul James. The 10 block of West Seventh and the Farmers Market parking lot near Seventh and Merchant will feature rock and dance music.
