Lyon County’s roller-coaster trend of new and active COVID-19 cases is now swinging up a bit.
Lyon County Public Health has announced 14 new cases Wednesday after four cases were announced Monday. Active cases, which had been flat at 27 Monday, increased to 38. Of those active cases, six are breakthrough cases, meaning infections among fully-vaccinated residents.
Active hospitalizations are at one. Deaths remain at 86. Deaths awaiting final cause from Kansas Department of Health and Environment remain at two.
As of Wednesday morning, Lyon County was the only area county above 50 percent of the full population fully vaccinated, and the county was at 50.1 percent. Morris County is second, based on percentage, at 49.6. Chase County has the lowest in that category at 39.8 percent.
For the eligible 12-plus population, Lyon county has 54.3 percent fully vaccinated. Morris and Greenwood counties are the only other area counties at or above 50 percent. Again, Chase County has the lowest percentage at 41.9 percent.
