Hot, steamy weather is now in place through at least Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has extended heat advisories in place for the KVOE listening area. Lyon County and most surrounding counties are in a heat advisory until 8 pm Wednesday. The exceptions, Chase and Morris counties, are in a heat advisory through 8 pm Tuesday.
Air temperatures will approach 100 degrees through Wednesday afternoon. Heat index readings could be anywhere from 103-109.
As was the case over the weekend, there is also a low-end risk of severe weather. In an update late Monday morning, the Storm Prediction Center says Tuesday has a slight risk north of a line from Matfield Green to Olpe to Burlington and a marginal risk south of that line. Wednesday has a marginal risk along and north of Interstate 35 and US Highway 50. Hail and wind are the main concerns both days.
