Lyon County’s latest COVID-19 update resembled numbers last seen in January for two key categories.
Lyon County Public Health announced 39 new cases, the largest period-to-period increase since 58 cases were reported Jan. 4. Active cases climbed from 60 on Friday to 95 Monday, the highest that category has been since there were 101 cases Jan. 28. Seventeen of the 95 active cases are considered breakthrough cases involving fully-vaccinated residents.
Active hospitalizations remained at two and deaths remained at 87.
Variant information from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has not been updated since Wednesday. At that time, Lyon County had 49 variant cases, with 31 of the delta strain and the remaining 18 of the alpha strain.
