The Osage County Sheriff’s Office continues soliciting opinions on a new office, emergency management headquarters and jail.
Officials will be at the current sheriff’s office, 131 West 14th in Lyndon, at 6 pm Wednesday for the latest meeting on the topic.
Sheriff Chris Wells and other administrators started the process in late June. The current plan involves 144 proposed beds, up from 30 currently available, and a facility that will house all aspects of law enforcement and emergency management. Wells and Undersheriff Scott Brenner have said the current facilities are in poor shape.
If approved, the new facility could cost upwards of $18 million and would be funded by revenue from holding inmates for other cities and counties.
